The title of this Vendetta Vibe Playlist perfectly describes how I felt about this week’s version: better late than never. At around 9am EST this morning, I had two people send me a song each. There was absolutely no way I was going to make a playlist with so few songs and I did not want to simply flood the playlist with my own music. So I gave it some time, and I actually have something to work with now! Last week was a special edition while this week’s playlist is a little more back to normal.
This is a song that can simply get you hyped up and ready to work.
WHY DOES THIS SONG GO SO HARD?! I have been bopping this for the past week shamelessly and haven’t got tired of it. Lil Nas X makes BOPS, there’s no doubt about it. Throw in Jack Harlow who also has been frequent in the bop maker category. How could this NOT be a hit?
With the football season starting this has been a go too song for me. While I grew up listening to Paul Weller and The Jam this song in particular was reintroduced to me as a run out song for Luton Town FC.
“stop apologizing for the things you’ve never done
‘Cause time is short and life is cruel but it’s up to us to change
This town called malice”
I don’t necessarily like Rap music. I’m not a fan. There are certain songs or artists however that just can’t be denied and Lowkey is one of those. The British artist isn’t your typical rapper when it comes to what he’s talking about and maybe that’s the appeal. ‘Voice of the Voiceless’ is one of my favorites.
On a classic rap kick and of course gotta pay tribute to the GOAT of rap.
Dude! Completely forgot about the Tunes piece. My sincerest apologies. Here’s my bit, if i’m not too late.
This weeks song is a genuine, bona fide classic: I Heard It Through The Grapevine by the late Marvin Gaye. I don’t think it’s too much to say that this is one of the greatest songs ever recorded. Wonderful lyrics, great composition, and a young Marvin knocking it out of the damn park. Do yourself a favour: after you’ve listened to this track, go to YouTube and look up this song performed without the backing track. Marvin, a capella. It’s haunting.
You are the man, Jarrod – apology accepted. Next week will be a VERY special edition of the playlist, so make sure you tune into that before you hit the gym.
