Kyle Kuzma Slander Does Not Exist

If you spend any time on NBA Twitter, you’ll see a lot of slander. LeBron James Slander. Kevin Durant Slander. Jae Crowder Slander. The list goes on, and you can probably find someone calling a take “slander” for any player you could possibly name. I’m here to tell you that this isn’t true with Los Angeles Lakers forward Kyle Kuzma. Let’s take a look at the dictionary definition of “slander”:

a malicious, false, and defamatory statement or report

“Slander” definition via Dictionary.com

You see, the thing with slander is that it has to be false. I don’t know if I’ve seen any negative takes on Kuzma that I haven’t agreed with, because he really has not lived up to the hype in any way. I mean, just look at this nonsense:

Is this the worst Tweet of all time? I honestly think it might be.

Kyle Kuzma Was a Liability This Season

Kuzma peaked when he won the 2017 Summer League MVP. It’s been all downhill from there. For the Lakers this past season, he averaged the fourth-most shots per game but ranked tenth on the team in field goal percentage. His volume shooting combined with his inefficiency makes him a complete detriment to any team’s offensive system. Kuzma is fine defensively, but he’s never had a positive Defensive Box Plus-Minus. How much stock you put into stats like that is completely up to you.

My main point is summed up here:

Thinking that Kuzma was better than Jayson Tatum is so ridiculous, it justifies pretty much any so-called “slander” to the former. He legitimately hasn’t been very good, but I’ll allow some of the irrational Shanghai Sharks takes after such terrible evaluations as that.
