Sean Culkin Cut By Chiefs: He Wanted His Entire Salary In Bitcoin

Tight end Sean Culkin wanted to convert his entire 2021 salary into cryptocurrency. Now, after being cut by the Kansas City Chiefs, he doesn’t have a salary to convert anymore. For the time being, Culkin will now be waiting for another team to call him to give him a salary to convert to Bitcoin later.

Culkin recently attracted the attention of others because of his plan to become the first NFL player to convert the entirety of his paycheck into Bitcoin. He was cut on Monday, and his hopes of becoming the backup tight end to established starter Travis Kelce are no more. The Chiefs signed tight end Blake Bell in free agency, they also drafted another tight end in Noah Gray, out of Duke, in the fifth round of the 2021 NFL Draft.

The weird thing about this is, Sean Culkin was never going to receive his paycheck in Bitcoin. He was just going to get his salary, which would have been $920,000 in U.S. dollars. Then, he was going to convert all of that into Bitcoin.

Culkin was an undrafted free agent in 2017 and signed with the Los Angeles Chargers as an undrafted free agent. He was with the Chargers from 2017 to 2019, and then was with the Baltimore Ravens in 2020. Culkin has two catches and 36 yards to his name in the NFL.

Now we will see what the future holds for Sean Culkin. Does his Bitcoin salary dream continue, or is it over now? If only he could have a roster spot instead of a 33-year-old former quarterback who’s buddies with a head coach in the league.
