Aaron Rodgers Is Pissed, As He Should Be

There have been several reports lately that Aaron Rodgers has been vocal about his displeasure with the Packers, and that he does not want to return to the team. Even Adam Schefter over at ESPN reported that not only does Rodgers not want to return, apparently the Packers are aware of the reality that they might have to end up trading him. So far in this offseason, it just appears that Rodgers and Green Bay are having a pissing match, and both sides are holding steady on their stance. But how can you just stonewall Aaron Rodgers? The dude has been balling out his whole career, and when he voices his opinion to ownership he gets ignored. I’m not saying you have to give Rodgers whatever he wants, but the Packers are definitely indebted to him because he’s taken a beating over the years and he still consistently wins games.

As mind-blowing as this may sound, the Packers have not drafted an offensive player in the first round in the last decade with the exception of Jordan Love in 2020, and we all know how that turned out. Jordan Love is a quarterback who Green Bay traded up to get. Why would you trade up for a quarterback when you have a surefire Hall of Famer on your team that you have publicly said you do not want to trade? And don’t get me wrong, I think the Eric Stokes pick last night was a smart move, but you have to wonder if they drafted a defensive back just to spite Aaron in some way. From Aaron Rodgers’ perspective, I would be pissed too.

Rodgers Needs More Help

Yes, the Packers did sign Aaron Jones to a four-year, $48 million deal and Davante Adams is still a top-three receiver. But Adams can’t be the only weapon on the outside and Aaron Jones can be up and down just like any other running back. If we should have learned anything from the 2020 NFL season, it’s that super-teams like the Chiefs and Buccaneers are taking over the NFL. The Packers won’t be able to keep up if they live and die by Davante Adams.

Never mind the fact that the Packers hired LaFleur who had zero head coaching experience and he made some incredibly questionable coaching decisions last year. Through all of the bad and the good, the Packers have managed to waste Aaron Rodgers’ talent for the last decade and screwed the pooch on in-game management on several occasions in key situations.
