Erased: Anime Review On Netflix

The same friend that recommended The Promised Neverland to me, also recommended Erased to me. Let’s just say he has some pretty good eyes for good animes. This was another short 12 episode anime that I watched in one day. It had a really cool concept and was more story-based than it was action-based. I will say that the creators took a different approach than I would have but it was still a great anime.

This anime begins with our main character Satoru, a 29-year-old in a dead end job and seemingly depressed. However, he has a unique ability, one that he calls revival, and it lets him go back in time a couple of minutes to reverse a bad outcome. One day, he has one of these revivals with his mother and they stop what seems like a child abduction, and the mother recognizes the suspect in the attempt. When she goes to try to do some further investigating she gets killed by the suspect. The attempted child abduction was similar to ones Satoru heard about at his school when he was a kid, including a kid named Kayo. Framed with his mother’s murder, Satoru panics and runs away from the police, desperate to rewrite history, he somehow forces a revival…to when he was a kid?! Now, he tries to save Kayo and rewrite history as he knows it today.

Rating: 8/10

As mentioned, Erased has a really cool concept and I was intrigued by the mysterious influence of it all. I have some beef with Netflix in the next paragraph, you’ll see what I mean. However, this anime was a great 8/10 anime, I would have rated it higher if it was more investigative rather than just trying to protect Kayo. However, it was still a stellar anime in terms of story-telling. It is a must-watch anime for one sitting. Please take a day to watch it and enjoy it,

*****SPOILER***** I think Netflix has changed it now, BUT NEXT TIME NETFLIX DON’T PUT THE FUCKING BAD GUY ON THE COVER IT KIND OF RUINS THE MYSTERY PART OF THE ANIME. I was pissed about that. I think it is changed now but still what the fuck? Anyway, watch it!
