Dez Fitzpatrick 2021 NFL Draft Profile
Dez Fitzpatrick is the lesser-known of the two Louisville wide receivers heading into the 2021 NFL Draft. Fitzpatrick has become a bit of a late round sleeper but one team just might find a gem on their hands. What does Fitzpatrick bring to the table? Let’s check out his 2021 NFL Draft profile.
Fitzpatrick has some good size on him standing at 6-foot-2, 208. The redshirt senior stayed an extra year to play with his brother Christian. It was a good choice by Dez because I’m not sure he gets drafted a year ago. Fitzpatrick was named to the second team All-ACC finally as a senior. In 2020, Fitzpatrick posted 43 receptions for 833 yards and three touchdowns.
Fitzpatrick ran a 4.46 – 40 time at the Louisville pro day. That’s a really good time given the size he has. Fitzpatrick was a really good deep ball threat with the Cardinals. Fitzpatrick scored a number of long touchdowns. A few of them came from Lamar Jackson early in his career.
The Senior Bowl performance by Fitzpatrick really turned me into a fan. I thought Dez looked really quick on some of those slant rants. To me, the Senior Bowl showed that he is a much more complete route runner than I first imagined. Fitzpatrick won consistently during the week of practice and in the game.
I’m not saying Dez Fitzpatrick is a world beater. I don’t even have him in my wide receiver rankings. However, there’s a size, weight, and speed component here. I also think he can win with pure route running. As a late round flier or priority free agent, I would be on in the Louisville product.
