In case you missed it, the other day I wrote a post on Krispy Kreme giving away free donuts for anyone that got the COVID-19 vaccine. You knew it was only a time before someone was going to throw stones for the sake of throwing stones. Dr. Leana Wen has now entered the chat.
In a Twitter rant, the esteemed health care professional attacked Krispy Kreme for having the audacity to give away free donuts:
Do we get where she is coming from… sure. You should live a healthy lifestyle, eat well, and exercise. Before I put you to sleep with this post, yes we get it. You shouldn’t eat donuts every day. Then again, hey, Dr. Wen is just doing her job.
Is this rant also necessary? I’ll be the first to admit, I love a good Shamrock Shake at McDonald’s. You basically couldn’t catch me dead at a McDonald’s unless it’s March. Do I eat one every day? NO. If they started giving them out for free, I’d maybe get an extra 2-3 that month.
I find cigarettes repulsive. I would never date someone that chain smoked. It’s one of my deal breakers. I’m also not out here screaming from the clouds trying to stand on some high horse telling people what they can and can’t do. If anything, Dr. Wen gave Krispy Kreme free publicity. I bet a number of her followers didn’t even know about the promotion.
As I said the other day, Krispy Kreme knows what they’re doing. They aren’t giving away those raspberry-filled donuts. They’re reeling people in with the basic glazed. You can’t walk out of Krispy Kreme with just one of those. You have to get other options.
