Chris Carson Re-Signs With The Seattle Seahawks

Chris Carson has re-signed with the Seattle Seahawks. The deal was a 3-year deal for $24.625 million. This was first reported by Adam Schefter via Twitter.

Carson had a so-so year in 2020 after having a superb one in 2019. In 2019, he had 1,230 rushing yards and 266 receiving yards. He also had a total of 9 TDs that year. In 2020, he did play 3 fewer games but had almost half of the rushing yards. He did have more receiving yards though, making him more of a receiving RB for the Seahawks this past year. Even though he played in 3 fewer games, his TD count was still the same. It seemed his role regressed because he averaged higher on his yards per carry than he did in 2019.

The Seattle Seahawks have moved towards having more of an RB committee. Chris Carson has Rashad Penny as his backup and when both of these RBs were injured, the Seahawks had Deejay Dallas ball out for them. Some might have thought the Seahawks might have moved on from Carson with the emergence of Deejay Dallas. But, the Seahawks have kept Carson and they will try to win the NFC West again this year.

Hopefully, with the addition of Gabe Jackson via trade, and maybe other roster moves regarding the OL, they can keep Russell Wilson as well. The NFC West should be much tougher this year with a healthy San Francisco team, the Rams with Matt Stafford, and the Cardinals adding JJ Watt. The NFC West should be competitive, we will see how the Seahawks stack up against the rest of the division with Chris Carson coming back.
