Kenny Golladay Signs Massive Deal With The New York Giants

The Giants acquire a new weapon for Daniel Jones signing Kenny Golladay. A 4-year deal worth $72 million is one of the largest in the league. The news breaks from Ian Rapoport on Twitter.

Golladay also reportedly fielded offers from the Bengals, Ravens, and Bears. Presumably, none were as attractive as an offer compared to the Giants’.

The Giants had the second-worst red-zone scoring percent in the league last year, scoring at a lowly 46% once inside the 20. The fit of Golladay on New York is seamless, bringing a new threat to the offense to help develop Daniel Jones. An alpha was needed with Darius Slayton and Sterling Shepard being the only starters after cutting Golden Tate earlier this offseason.

Golladay and the Lions could not come to terms on an extension, and Golladay only played five games in 2020 due to injury. Golladay is not the most refined route-runners and struggles to create separation but remains an elite red-zone threat.

Kenny Golladay is one of the premier jump-ball receivers in the league. Nobody is more impressive at getting up and over defensive backs to make a play on the ball. Being one of the best deep threats in the league, Golladay has continually made big plays for the Lions earning him the nickname ‘Babytron’, a fitting nickname considering his immense 6’4 frame.

While some may say his chemistry with Stafford is one of Golladay’s main reasons for success, Golladay played only half the season with Stafford and had to endure David Blough as his quarterback for the second half of the year in 2019. Consequently, Golladay led the NFL in touchdown receptions with 11 scores that year, proving he can continue to be a playmaker with any quarterback at the helm.
