Karl-Anthony Towns: Why Boston Should Trade For Him

Poor Kart-Anthony Towns, man. Since coming into the league in 2015 as the number 1 overall pick, he has only been on one winning team. He has all the talent in the world, he just needs a supporting cast around him and a coach who can unlock his potential. It just so happens that I know of a place that has the pieces to move KAT out of Minnesota. The Boston Celtics should trade for Karl-Anthony Towns.

Is He Worth It?

One might say that Karl-Anthony Towns is a bit overrated. In the article listed above, it goes into how no one can win with him on their roster. I disagree. Towns has averaged 23ppg and 11trb and has a player efficiency rating of 25.1, putting him in the top 10 in the league since entering. Towns does his share to help the team, he just has never had any help. Yes, this year he has D’Angelo Russell (one of my favorites in the NBA) but can you name me the rest of their starting five? I didn’t think so. Put Karl-Anthony Towns on the Celtics roster and watch him flourish.

It Takes Two to Tango

It can be argued that Boston could’ve done this trade for the past two years. They have a bounty of nice, young players and have had multiple first-round draft picks in the last two seasons. Why haven’t they made any moves at all over the past few years? Don’t ask me. Boston has the talent to make a deep run in the postseason, despite what GM Danny Ainge has to say about it. You add a guy like Towns to a roster with Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown, and you finally have a team that can contend in the Eastern Conference. Can you image Karl-Anthony Towns playing in the Garden in those Celtics jerseys? I can.

Say what you will about the current state of both the Boston Celtics and the Minnesota Timberwolves. But it is clear to me that these two need to jump into bed together and make a deal for the former Kentucky big man. Free Karl-Anthony Towns from hell in Minnesota, and let him shine on a winning team.
