The Pittsburgh Steelers just find ways to win, isn’t it amazing what having an actual quarterback can do for a team? No more Mason Rudolph and Duck Hodges crap. Ben Roethlisberger is back and the Pittsburgh Steelers have improved to 9-0 after crushing the Cincinnati Bengals 36-10 and extending their lead in the AFC North race. Now, it’s time to give the Pittsburgh Steelers the respect they deserve. A 16-0 season is on the table.
I had high expectations for the Pittsburgh Steelers when entering the season, I even called 2020 a Super Bowl or bust season. They gambled on Ben Roethlisberger and it’s paying off big time right now. The offense has finally looked serviceable with Roethlisberger’s return and the emergence of Canadian rookie wide receiver Chase Claypool. The 2020 Steelers have surpassed their total wins in the 2019 season through only nine games. The defense has remained elite and the loss of Javon Hargrave is hardly felt with Tyson Alualu stepping up and proving to be key.
Ben Roethlisberger has made his return and put the league on notice that he isn’t done yet. Going into Week 10, Roethlisberger had 1,934 yards, 18 passing touchdowns, and four interceptions. After a week of not practicing at all due to Covid-19 protocols Roethlisberger didn’t just keep pace, he sped up. Roethlisberger had 333 yards, four touchdowns, and no interceptions against the Cincinnati Bengals. Big Ben is back, yet the Steelers continue to be disrespected.
As for Canadian rookie wide receiver Chase Claypool, he entered Week 10 with 444 receiving yards, five receiving touchdowns, and two rushing touchdowns. Claypool finished the game against Cincinnati with 56 receiving yards and two receiving touchdowns, Mapletron can ball.
As for Pittsburgh’s remaining games, there are only two games that could present challenges for Pittsburgh. The first of which comes in the form of a Thanksgiving AFC North showdown against the Baltimore Ravens in Pittsburgh. The Steelers already beat Baltimore 28-24 just two weeks ago. It’ll be a close game, as usual with these two teams, but the Steelers have a great chance to win that game. The other game that could be troubling is a Week 14 primetime game at Buffalo against the Bills. Buffalo has taken a major step forward this year, especially with the combination of Josh Allen to Stefon Diggs. It’ll be a tough matchup, but Pittsburgh has what it takes to win.
The other games aren’t really worth talking about. I don’t see the Steelers having much trouble against the Jaguars, Bengals, Colts, or Browns. 16-0 is on the table, time to give the Steelers the respect they deserve.
