Can CFL Record Holder Bo Levi Mitchell Lead The Cowboys To NFC East Crown?

The Dallas Cowboys lost quarterback Andy Dalton indefinitely to a concussion against the Washington Football Team. Dalton did not look good at all, and backup Ben DiNucci wasn’t anything special either. Dallas needs someone with playoff and championship experience to lead this to the top of an extremely winnable division. CFL Record holder Bo Levi Mitchell might be the right man for the job. While this seems unlikely, desperate times call for desperate measures.

Championship Experience

For those who know absolutely nothing about the Canadian Football League, I don’t blame you; the Grey Cup is the equivalent of the Super Bowl. Bo Levi Mitchell has won two Grey Cups as the quarterback of the Calgary Stampeders, his first in 2014, and his second in 2018. He was named MVP in both victories. Mitchell is a man who knows how to rise to the occasion in big games; his regular-season accomplishments are just as impressive.

Regular Season Dominance

Bo Levi Mitchell has been not only a phenomenal player in the postseason but in the regular season as well. Mitchell won the CFL’s Most Outstanding Player (Equivalent to MVP in the NFL) award twice in his career. He first won it in the 2016 CFL season and then again in the 2018 CFL season. Mitchell also led the CFL in touchdown passes in those years. Mitchell was named a CFL West All-Star in 2015, 2016, and 2018. He was named a CFL All-Star in 2016 and 2018. Mitchell also holds the record for most consecutive wins by a starting quarterback (14), the best starting record all-time for a first-time quarterback (12-1), and the record for the fastest quarterback to earn 60 wins (Mitchell did it in 72 starts).

Bo Levi Mitchell worked out for multiple NFL teams in 2018, including the Vikings, Giants, Bills, Bears, and Broncos, just to name a few. He almost landed a contract with the Vikings, but Minnesota wanted to avoid a quarterback controversy. If the Cowboys have any chance at a postseason run, it’s worth it to take a chance on the 30-year-old CFL record holder.
