Domingo German has officially served his suspension for his domestic violence incident. However, that doesn’t mean the Yankees are sure they want him back. Team owner Hal Steinbrenner spoke today about German’s status with the team. It’s far from a lock to see German back in pinstripes.
Steinbrenner was recently on the Michael Kay Show and didn’t give German a vote of confidence.
“Well, look, I have to absolutely feel comfortable that he deeply, deeply regrets and is sorry for what he what he did,” Steinbrenner said. “And I absolutely have to be comfortable with the fact that he’s turned his life around. Those two things are for sure. As far as where we go with him, I don’t know. That’s another discussion that I have to have with not just (general manager) Brian Cashman and all, but my family and we will see. But there’s no doubt he needs to prove that he’s turned his life around and that he absolutely realizes how horrific that was.”
Wait until the Yankees find out what Aroldis Chapman did. Of course, Chapman got suspended 30 games for choking his girlfriend and firing eight shots off with his gun. Steinbrenner must have been in a coma for that one. Except he just chose to forget and wants you to forget too!
Think about how terrible that is? If you throw 100 MPH, the domestic violence will be tolerated. Otherwise, then probably not. Sounds a little hypocritical (and disgusting) to me…
From a baseball standpoint, the Yankees need starting pitching. Masahiro Tanaka, James Paxton, and JA Happ are all set to hit free agency. German is an internal option to replace one of them potentially. That is if the Yankees bring him back.
