The Denver Nuggets just added another key piece to their championship puzzle.

On July 1st, the Nuggets agreed to a one-year veteran minimum deal with Tim Hardaway Jr.. This move adds veteran shooting, playoff experience, and roster flexibility for one of the Western Conference’s top contenders. While the signing didn’t break the league, it could wind up being one of the sneakiest pickups of the NBA offseason.

At 33 years old, Hardaway Jr. is now a ring-chasing role player. His ability to be a reliable floor spacer and a quick scorer. With the Detroit Pistons last season, he averaged 11 points, 2.4 rebounds, and 1.6 assists on 36.8% shooting from three in 77 games.

Moreover, he connected on over 63% of his open spot-up threes, making him a prime target for a Nuggets offense that thrives on creating space for perimeter shooters. Nikola Jokić will undoubtedly give Hardaway Jr. the best looks of his entire career.

The Nuggets already have the best passing big man in the world in Jokić, and a dynamic two-man game with Jamal Murray. But when the offense stagnated — especially late in playoff games — it often came down to a lack of outside shooting. In Game 7 of the Western Conference Semifinals against the eventual champion, the Oklahoma City Thunder, the Nuggets shot just 22.7% from three-point range. Hardaway Jr. helps solve that issue.

Including his addition, alongside the return of Bruce Brown Jr., as well as the trades for Jonas Valančiūnas and Cameron Johnson. Giving Denver a fresh wave of capable, veteran contributors without breaking the bank or clogging the long-term cap sheet.

Overall, the Nuggets are building a formidable roster on paper. In hopes of pushing themselves back into being one of the top teams in the West. Improving on a team that last year, although injured, still pushed the NBA’s best squad in 2025 to the brink.

Signing Tim Hardaway Jr. may have cemented a vital offseason for this Nuggets franchise.
