Under Maintenance
We deeply apologize for interrupting your reading but Vendetta is currently undergoing some important maintenance! You may experience some layout shifts, slow loading times and dififculties in navigating.
You see, but do you also observe? Recruiting pipelines matter, and there’s a big shift happening right now with Oregon running backs. Are you smart enough to see the signs of what’s to come?
This doesn’t have anything to do with ego. It has everything to do with being right and ahead of the curve. Nobody was more accurate about Bucky Irving than I was.
The people who were wrong all said the same things…
“What about his BMI”?
“But none of the previous Oregon running backs who are built like this never became hits”!
Then is then.
Now is now.
Learn the difference, and you will see a big shift is happening in this program. When guys like Chip Kelly and Willie Taggart were there, Oregon running backs resembled guys like LaMichael James and Kenyon Barner. Speed guys, but not real running backs.
People just wrongly automatically assumed that trend would continue. Maybe it would have, except for the part where Dan Lanning has brought SEC-caliber program to Oregon.
Bucky Irving was stolen from Big 10, Minnesota. Jordan James was recruited from the heart of SEC land, Nashville, Tennessee. Makhi Hughes was a total stud at Tulane and more than just Oregon wanted him. The backs the Ducks start to produce moving forward will look more like guys who would have worn Georgia helmets in the past.
Recruiting matters, and it sets the stage for what’s to come. Oregon running backs are no longer speed gimmicks. They’re the real deal and should be taken seriously for as long as Lanning remains in charge.
