On3 Acquires Rivals As Part Of Yahoo Merger

Shannon Terry continues to have the recruiting industry by the cahones. If you have no idea what I’m talking about in regards to the On3 owner, this short by Max Browne does a pretty good job explaining just that.

Terry has been involved in every mainstream recruiting site imaginable. He co-founded Rivals in 1996 before selling it to Yahoo in 2007. A few years later, he founded 247Sports, and then sold that off to CBS in 2015. After launching On3 in 2021, he’s taken Rivals back over and formed a partnership with Yahoo all in one fell swoop.

Quick side note from me. I still think the On3 branding makes absolutely no sense and I hate it, but they’re clearly doing a great job, so it doesn’t really matter. Does anybody actually get what On3 is going for in their name?
