Branson Robinson Transfers To Georgia State

The story of Branson Robinson is such a sad one to tell. He just hasn’t been quite right since he suffered a lower-body injury a couple of years ago. After falling out of the rotation at Georgia, Robinson will enter the portal and will head to in-state Georgia State to take on the lead running back role there.

Pete Nakos over at On3 was the first to report the news on the former Georgia tailback:

Robinson, a former four star recruit in high school during the 2022 cycle out of Germantown, Mississippi, has two years of eligibility remaining. Robinson might be a shell of himself, but I can’t imagine that he won’t win the job after sticking in the Peach State with Georgia State. He’s way too big and physical to not carve out a monster role there. Who knows, maybe if Robinson rebuilds his value he transfers back to a bigger school after this upcoming season.

Georgia State went 3-9 last season, but he will reunite with former Georgia running backs coach Dell McGee, who is entering his second season as Georgia State’s head coach.

It was just super obvious that Robinson wasn’t going to crack the rotation again with the Dawgs. Georgia has so many options in the backfield that include Nate Frazier, Cash Jones, Roderick Robinson, Chauncey Bowens, and new incoming transfers Josh McCray / Micah Bell. Georgia lost Trevor Etienne to the NFL, but otherwise still have so many bodies in that backfield.
