Alex Tuch is entering the final year of his contract when the 2025-26 NHL Season begins. Many veteran players likely wouldn’t want to be part of the mess in Buffalo, but luckily for the Sabres, Tuch is from Syracuse, New York, and grew up rooting for the team.
During his exit interview, Tuch seemed very open to an extension with the Sabres… except there’s one small catch. He needs to talk to his wife first about staying.
“I love it here in Buffalo,” said the 28-year-old, adding that he hasn’t thought much about his contract status. “I’ve really enjoyed my time here, and I would like to win here in Buffalo. But I haven’t even really talked to my wife about it, honestly – that’s the first person I’m going to have to talk to.”
Tuch’s wife, Kylie, is from Canada, so she may not have the same ties to Buffalo that Alex does. If Tuch were to bail on his hometown team, would anybody blame him? Let’s also not discount the possibility that the Sabres decide to trade him to help spark another rebuild. This team does stupid things all the time. Trading a player who actually wants to be in Buffalo sounds exactly like something this garbage team would do.
If the Sabres were to entertain trade offers for Tuch, I sure know one team that would be interested in a reunion with the player. A team that really only needs help on the wing too…
