NFL Draft Stock Report: Senior Bowl National Team (2), (3)

Black, 23, was a 230 pound four star athlete coming out of high school. The redshirt senior was the second ranked player out of the state of Minnesota. Black has spent all five years with the Hawkeyes after coming out of the 2020 cycle.

No stock notes here. I genuinely didn’t watch a ton of Iowa. When he did, I never saw standout stuff. Just one sack last year and was Honorable Mention All-Big Ten each of the last two years. He’s only been a starter for the last two years.

To me, I think I saw everything I needed to during the pre-draft process. His Senior Bowl was as stinky as it gets. The Combine was equally brutal. His raw testing numbers were as bad as it gets. The on-field workout was vomit worthy. Guy can’t bend a lick. Again, it’s one thing to run a 5.39, which historically means you have no chance at making an impact. It’s another when you look as bad as he did during the on-field portion.

Checking in at 6-foot-6, 336, he’s gained a ton of weight during his college career and really only provides nose tackle value at the next level. Albeit, as an untalented nose tackle. Outside of being a big body, there’s literally nothing to see here.

I think Yahya Black should have been an undrafted player. If I’m taking a flier on a nose tackle like this, I would have went with Desmond Watson at Florida instead. To draft him in the middle rounds seems like a huge reach.
