Jordan James 2025 NFL Draft Profile

We’re talking Jordan James in this edition of the 2025 NFL Draft profile. If you have been paying attention to the site, you already know this is one of my favorite players in the entire class. We’re going to talk about why that’s the case here in a hot minute!

NFL Draft Stock Report: Week 3Week 6Week 7Week 8Week 10Conference ChampionshipsRose Bowl

James, 21, was a four star prospect out of the state of Tennessee during the 2022 cycle. That includes being the 164th overall player, 13th overall running back, and 4th ranked player in the state. The Nashville native was recruited heavily by SEC teams and Georgia looked poised to land him prior to Dan Lanning taking the ship over at Oregon.

Checking in at 5-foot-9, 205, James is eerily similar to Bucky Irving from last year. Not to be overly repetitive, but if you halfway pay attention, you know we nailed that evaluation last year. 4.55 speed with a 1.62 10-yard time is far from elite, but it’s not about the home runs with James. It’s about the fact that he’s constantly hitting doubles and is so damn efficient in his movement skills.

By the way, all the stock notes are there for you at the top. I’ve been tracking James for a long time since he was Irving’s backup last year and posted 7.1 YPC that year. By the way, he had 12 touchdowns from scrimmage in a part time role that year. This past season, James was Second-team All-Big Ten Conference after posting 1,267 rushing yards (233 carries, 5.4 YPC) with 15 touchdowns via the ground. Oh, and add in 26 receptions too.

I just love the skillset. Passes the knee bend department. Very low and compact. Physical running and has a knack for eluding tackles with his short area wiggle. Has patience and vision to his game always finding a way to hit those medium chunk gains other backs don’t.

If you scout the Combine based on the 40, you’re an idiot. I thought his on-field workout there was excellent and confirmed all of my prior thoughts going in. He’s just so consistent in everything he does. By the way, James has never fumbled the ball in 386 career college rushing attempts.

I think Jordan James is a second to third round player who is going to get WAY lower based on how deep this RB class is. He’s a top five back in this class, and I don’t care what anybody says. Buy the stock now or regret it later.
