Alvin Kamara and Joe Mixon both got paid, which left Dalvin Cook as the lone ranger without a contract extension. Just one day before the start of the 2020 NFL Season, the Vikings were able to agree to a contract extension with their star running back.

Cook, 25, is now tied to the Vikings for the next six years. Cook had one year remaining on his rookie contract after being selected in the 2nd round of the 2017 NFL Draft. In 2019, Cook rushed for 1,135 yards and 13 touchdowns on 250 carries in 14 games. He also added 53 catches for 519 yards in the air.
Cook has proven he’s one of the best running backs in the league. The coaching staff has already gone on record for saying how much they love him.
“Dalvin’s a great player, I don’t have to tell you guys that. He’s a great person also,” Kubiak said this summer. “I’ve been around Dalvin one year and knew a lot about him as a player when he came out. Obviously, he’s stepped to the plate and played very well.
“I love Dalvin,” Zimmer told “Voice of the Vikings” Paul Allen. “I’m going to make him a captain because of the things he represents here and the way that he’s gone about his business and works.
Cook gets paid, and the Vikings no longer have to worry about dealing with this contract in the offseason. Cook’s value to this team is something that cannot be ignored. The two sides got the deal done.
