Yankees Finally Cancel Idiotic Facial Hair Policy

For the first time since 1976, players on the New York Yankees can be grown ass men again. That might sound harsh but let’s be real about this. Their idiotic facial hair policy had to go. Today… that finally happened. The Yankees have finally canceled their idiotic facial hair policy.

The New York Yankees released their own statement regarding the news:

“In recent weeks I have spoken to a large number of former and current Yankees — spanning several eras — to elicit their perspectives on our longstanding facial hair and grooming policy, and I appreciate their earnest and varied feedback. These most recent conversations are an extension of ongoing internal dialogue that dates back several years.

“Ultimately the final decision rests with me, and after great consideration, we will be amending our expectations to allow our players and uniformed personnel to have well-groomed beards moving forward. It is the appropriate time to move beyond the familiar comfort of our former policy.”

I just have one question…

Who is the person in the organization responsible for making sure each player has a “well-groomed” beard and what exactly does that consist of? Do they have pictures in the clubhouse with beards X’d out in terms of what’s not acceptable?

Overall, this is a bittersweet in terms of myself. The stupid facial hair policy made them very easy to hate. The Yacht vibes by the Yankees were a big reason I hated them growing up. Part of me hates they finally got some common sense. The other part of me is thrilled that this stupid rule is donezo.
