Tre’Davious White is now the highest-paid cornerback (CB) in the NFL. Since the Bills drafted White in the 2017 NFL Draft, he’s been one of the best players at his position since he walked into the league. Buffalo finally got a deal done and rightfully made him the league’s highest-paid CB.
Adam Schefter of ESPN was the first to report the contract details:
The details of White’s contract include a four-year deal worth $70 million, $55 million of which is guaranteed. White has been a star for the Bills, being targeted 84 times as the nearest defender in 2019 and did not allow a touchdown. Only Stephon Gilmore faired better, while not allowing a single touchdown.
In his career, White has allowed five touchdowns while notching 12 interceptions. That’s as good as it gets. White followed in the footsteps of so many great LSU secondary players in the past, such as Patrick Peterson and Tyrann Mathieu.
The crazy part is White has been so good that he’s almost forgotten about for the way the 2017 NFL Draft transpired. Buffalo was the team that traded down with the Chiefs that allowed Kansas City to draft Patrick Mahomes. Nobody ever really makes fun of the Bills because they traded down and drafted White a few picks later. He’s not Mahomes, but White has been a terrific pro.
After making the postseason in 2019, the Bills could potentially make even more noise in 2020 after trading for Stefon Diggs. Locking up White before the start of the season is a massive win for the Buffalo Bills.
