Under Maintenance

By now, we know the story when it comes to sleepers at the tight end position. We know one or two are going to break it. It’s about finding which guy that player is. Often times, you’re too late if you don’t pick the right one. One possible target is Bills tight end Dawson Knox who is being left for dead in fantasy drafts. Could Knox become a potential breakout tight end?
I saw one ranking that has Knox currently as TE25. Personally, that feels really low to me. Yes, I have Knox on my fantasy team. No, I’m not being biased, I still may wind up cutting Knox. Personally, I think there’s a chance Knox turns into a real gem.
Let’s think about this. Is there any competition on the depth chart? Well, no Knox is the unquestioned starter. Check that box.
Does Knox have the skill set to potentially breakout? You bet. Knox is a former converted quarterback and ran a 4.57 – 40 time at his pro day. At the combine, Knox put together a really impressive showing looking sharp and explosive in his routes. Check that box too.
Did Knox show promise as a rookie? Yup. It wasn’t a super sexy campaign. 28 receptions for 388 yards and 2 touchdowns. 13.9 yards per catch is a solid number for a tight end. At minimum, the Bills tight end showed he has explosion. I like that.
Is there an opportunity to grow? Sure thing. If Josh Allen takes a step forward, Knox will have more chances to do damage. Heading into year two, the former Ole Miss product should be more a part of the game plan anyway. Do you know what else happens? Having Stefon Diggs? That’s a deep threat that opens up the rest of the offense for the secondary targets. Knox only benefits.
I’m not saying Dawson Knox is a lock to go crazy but I also don’t think he should be left for dead. There is a lot going for the former 3rd round pick. The formula is there for a potential breakout season.
