Texas A&M QB Conner Weigman To Enter Transfer Portal

Before the season began, I came out with my first edition of the Stallions List. If you are new to the site, to refer to someone as a “stallion” means you think very highly of them. The term isn’t to be thrown around all willy-nilly. I have nailed a good amount of picks on that list, however, I would not be a good evaluator if I did not acknowledge my misses, too. While it might be a “tad” early to say I was fully wrong on Texas A&M QB Conner Weigman, the test really begins now.

Weigman hitting the transfer portal could be huge for his career and his development. The former five-star prospect will have two years of eligibility left and spoke about his future recently. Full quote via CBS.com:

“I feel like my best football is ahead of me,” Weigman told ESPN. “I wasn’t able to reach my full potential where I was at. I know what I’m capable of and what I can bring to a team and program. … I’m looking forward to being able to give a team everything I got. I’m going to leave it all on the table. I’m going to have no regrets, I’m going to give everything and then some to make this happen for me and my team.”

Conner Weigman should have no shortage of potential suitors available to him. On the one hand, I could see him leaving the SEC for an up-and-coming program like Indiana. Kurtis Rourke will be leaving for the draft, leaving a giant hole in that offense. Going to a smaller school could be very beneficial to his development.

On the flip side, schools like Michigan and Ohio State may not want to roll out their shiny new toys as true freshman and could have them sit for a year being Conner Weigman. USC is going to be without Miller Moss, he could fit nicely in Lincoln Riley’s offense. Oklahoma will be losing Jackson Arnold, too…but I’m not so sure I would want to play for Brent Venables.

Conner Weigman can still find that potential that so many placed on him coming out of High School. I know that I am still holding out hope for the future HOF (IYKYK) that he can turn it around and showcase the skillset he has and all that untapped potential. I believe a change of scenery will be good for him, now it just depends on where he chooses to go.
