Pep Guardiola Physically Harmed Himself

Pep Guardiola Physically Harmed Himself

Before I start, I just want to state the obvious here. Mental health stuff should be taken seriously and physically harming yourself is a bad idea. With that in mind, we’ll keep this Pep Guardiola story as light-hearted as we possibly can.

Manchester City stormed out to a 3-0 lead over Feyenoord in the group stage of the Champions League (by the way, the new format for the Champions League stinks and is impossible to follow, but that’s a story for another day). Feyenoord stormed back and eventually leveled the score at 3-3 to end the game as a draw.

Man City is currently in a bit of a downward spiral and Pep lost his mind. So much so to the point where he scratched the hell out of his face.

“I want to harm myself.”

Someone needs to check on Pep immediately. He’s clearly a brilliant coach but often the smartest people have their own set of demons. This is arguably the worst stretch of Pep’s coaching career as Man City has lost five straight outings. For a man not used to losing, he clearly hit a breaking point and lost it.

After the implosion, Pep did go on social media to address the incident. To his credit, he acknowledged that mental health is a serious thing and it shouldn’t be ignored.

Regardless of who you root for, let’s all hope that Pep pulls through this mental warfare he’s putting himself through. I can’t remember seeing a coach harm himself like this, let alone an all-time great. Just so bizarre but I guess that’s the price of greatness that few of us ever get to ultimately achieve.
