Kelly McCrimmon Gave A Savage Line To Teams Trying To Trade For Shea Theodore

Kelly McCrimmon has been cooking in the midst of the 2024-25 NHL Season. The Vegas Golden Knights general manager has already extended Brett Howden (link), Brayden McNabb (link), and Shea Theodore (link).

Speaking of Theodore, it turns out several teams tried to trade for him prior to the contract extension. It also turns out McCrimmon laughed at all of them and told each inquiring team this hilarious line.

“28. After Shea Theodore re-signed, a couple teams said one of the running jokes last summer was that Golden Knights GM Kelly McCrimmon told anyone interested in the defenceman they “could buy a ticket to one of our games for the next eight years.” Theodore joked the process took longer than he wanted, but never seriously considered anywhere else. Don’t (bleep) with happy. With David Amber on Wednesday morning, we had a good conversation about how he flips from side-to-side, playing left (his strong side) that night in Toronto. We asked if there was anyone else capable of seamlessly switching as often as he does. He paused, and we noticed Zach Whitecloud shaking his head “no” in the next stall, which was pretty funny. I’ll be the first to admit, I wasn’t 100% sure Vegas could pull this off. They didn’t just extend Theodore. They got him locked up for an incredibly team-friendly deal. Before the season, it wasn’t exactly a given that Vegas could get Theodore locked up for the number they ultimately did.

In the end, Kelly McCrimmon gets the last laugh as he usually does. If teams want to see Theodore play, they will just have to buy a ticket to the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
