Devin Singletary Has Limited Fantasy Upside

Devin Singletary proved that he’s a talented running back as a rookie. The former Florida Atlantic product rushed for 5.1 yards per carry in year one. You would think Singletary could continue the momentum and turn into a real star for fantasy. I have a hard time believing that to be the case. Devin Singletary has limited fantasy upside.

The problem is that the Bills clearly don’t believe or want Singletary to be the short yardage back. I’ve already talked about how Buffalo basically refuses to give the ball inside the 10-yard line. I don’t think that’s going to change now that Zack Moss was drafted. Singletary had 2 touchdowns as a rookie. I’m going under 5 in year two.

Singletary isn’t scoring touchdowns and the Bills aren’t giving him opportunities inside the red area. That’s a problem for fantasy. There’s a method to the madness. Singletary had a good year but isn’t perfect. Singletary can make a guy miss in the hole but isn’t so good if you get your hands on him. Singletary averaged 1.5 yards after contact which was one of the worst rates in football.

That makes sense though when you think about it. That’s just not who Singletary is. We’re talking about a 5-foot-7 shifty running back. He’s not supposed to be Derrick Henry. That’s fine and good but if Singletary isn’t scoring touchdowns, we have a problem.

Bills Rightfully Call Out Colin Cowherd For Being The WORST

The more I think about it, the more I’m out on Devin Singletary for fantasy. Talented? YUP. There’s a lot going against him. Zack Moss comes in as a rookie, no opportunities inside the 10, and poor contact averages don’t give me reasons to think more touchdowns are coming.
