Insert circus music here. The Jets signed up for this mess and now it continues to get uglier and uglier. Joe Douglas foolishly traded for Haason Reddick this offseason and before he’s played a singular game for the Jets, the former Temple product has requested a trade away from the team.
Ian Rapoport of NFL Network was the first to report the news:
Joe Douglas has commented on the situation and claims he will not move Reddick.
Reddick, 29, is due to make a non-guaranteed $14.25 million in base pay in the final year of his deal. He’s been unhappy from the start and wants a new deal. It’s why he’s not at training camp.
Everybody should be asking the same question here. How did Joe Douglas get swindled like this? Philadelphia signed Bryce Huff in free agency when the Jets could have just franchised him. Then New York gave Philadelphia a third round pick that can become a second rounder for Reddick. Now Reddick wants out before ever suiting up for the Jets.
Just a disaster on all levels. Poor planning. Poor management. Poor execution. That’s been the Jets during my entire lifetime. There is no leadership with this team. Aaron Rodgers is the leader of the team and it becomes more clear every single day.
Good luck getting this clown show resolved. I wish the Jets luck.
Oh, and my sources tell me the Jets are ignoring Reddick because they’re working on a trade for Davante Adams and don’t know how much money will be left over to take care of Reddick. I know this team better than they do. Don’t forget that when it happens.
