Jared Goff And Lions Agree To Four-Year Extension

The Detroit Lions and quarterback Jared Goff have agreed to a four-year extension for $212 million which includes $170 million guaranteed, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.

The Detroit Lions are not playing around this offseason, as they have extended yet another player who helped make the run into the NFC Championship game last season. The Lions have also extended wide receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown and offensive lineman Penei Sewell.

With the extension, Goff is the highest-paid player in the team’s history, having a bigger contract than Hall of Famer and Lions legend Calvin Johnson.

This contract extension puts Goff as the second highest-paid QB in the league on AAV at $53 million, according to Schefter. With Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow being the highest at $55 million.

The Lions were able to acquire Jared Goff in a trade with the Los Angeles Rams, which would also see Matthew Stafford go to the Rams.

Jared Goff was one of the key players in the Lions playoff run last season, throwing for 837 yards and four touchdowns in three postseason games with Detroit.

Goff has thrown for 12,258 passing yards, 78 touchdowns and 12 interceptions in the three seasons he has been with Detroit.

Detroit Lion head coach Dan Campbell has been able to turn a team that went winless 3-13-1 and into a team that made it into the NFC Championship game.

Detroit Lions Trade For Carlton Davis

Besides retaining and drafting players, Detroit also acquired defensive back Carlton Davis in a trade with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After a deep playoff run, the Lions are going all out to attempt to make it to the Super Bowl next season.
