Draft Busters: Should They Be Banned From Mock Drafts?
Two months ago I gave the Draft Busters crew praise. This time I’m doing the thing that Chickster loves more than his own child.
Umm…. Should the Draft Busters crew be banned from making NFL Mock Draft Simulator videos? Frankly, I’m not sure what those two knuckleheads are doing but they’re making a mockery of themselves and the site.
Let me first start by saying this. I don’t like Mock Drafts. I do not produce one. 99.9% of people that publish mock drafts have absolutely no idea how the draft works or what teams want to do philosophically. Just an off the top of my head example would be anyone that mocked a receiver to the Packers in the first round when the entire history of the franchise tells you they like to pick them in the second and third round (Jordy Nelson, Greg Jennings, Jayden Reed, Christian Watson, etc).
However, I do think the team by team simulators are a fun exercise because it plays out certain scenarios that teams will have to think about on draft day. I want player X but will he make it to pick Y? Things like that.
When I watch the mocks that the Draft Busters crew puts out there, I feel like I’m snorting crack while injecting windshield wiper fluid into my veins. It’s complete Looney Tunes. These idiots really found a way to pass on Caleb Williams twice. The Bears video they somehow didn’t turn the card in for Caleb Williams and then proceeded to waste their time on a Justin Fields scenario that was never going to happen.
It somehow gets worse than that. They did a Commanders video where Caleb Williams made it to pick two. Williams is from the Washington DC area and this franchise has quite literally never had a quarterback the fan base can wrap their arms around. It would be a dream for any Commanders fan. These idiots found a way to screw that up too.
What are we doing here, guys? Are we trying to make content on par with what Bill Simmons jerks off to with his imaginary fairy tale land fake trades? Is that the goal or are we trying to actually be intelligent about it and try to better inform the viewership? You the reader can be the judge of that.
Official Verdict:
Not banned from making videos but I’m disappointed and I expect better. Maybe I should blame myself and feel blessed that I don’t have that Looney Tunes brain that Chickster can’t seem to escape.
