Kris Abrams-Draine 2024 NFL Draft Profile

The Cornerback class in the 2024 NFL Draft has a ton of very solid depth, so you should be able to grab key role players in the middle rounds. I believe that Missouri’s Kris Abrams-Draine could be one of the better options to be had. After a good showing at the Senior Bowl and a solid NFL Combine performance, what does his draft profile look like? Let’s talk about it.

Abrams-Draine, a former three-star recruit, did not play during the 2020 season, making his Tigers debut in 2021. KAD has been on the field a ton for Missouri over the last three years, totaling just over 2,100 snaps. His final season was his best, finishing with 51 total tackles, four interceptions, and a forced fumble. Zero interceptions in 2022 but another three in 2021.

Kris Abrams-Draine should probably be a slot corner in the NFL, even though he lined up mostly outside in college. But I wouldn’t let that deter you. He plays bigger than his frame (6’0, 180). His backpedal is so smooth, just gliding back and when he needs to flip those hips to get around it is never jerky. Can make the cut to get downhill quickly. Willing tackler. He has the speed you want (4.45 40-yard dash) to hang with the speed guys down the field on go routes. Active hands as well, always looking to get inside to break up a pass.

KAD is always looking to make a tackle, but the tape shows quite a few broken tackles. This can easily be remedied by getting him into an NFL building and adding another 5-10 pounds of mass (he already put on seven pounds between the Senior Bowl and the combine and didn’t lose any speed). He looks to make the breakup, yes, but can be fooled at times on stop-and-go routes or routes with multiple cuts. He also might not win a ton of jump balls against those bigger-body receivers.

I’ve been on the Kris Abrams-Draine train for a bit now, but the Georgia game this year sealed the deal for me. I have a third-round grade on Abrams-Draine, and he’s someone I wouldn’t want to miss out on. Slot corner might not be a huge priority to some, but I would push back on that in the case of KAD because he has the tools to be a really solid pro down the line.
