Cam Hart 2024 NFL Draft Profile

The 2024 NFL Draft profiles are rolling out nonstop, and next up on the docket is Notre Dame’s Cam Hart. Hart had a good Senior Bowl and a solid NFL Combine, propelling him up draft boards. But in a draft class at Cornerback where there are so many good players, he might be drafted lower than where he should be. What does his draft profile look like? Let’s talk about it.

Hart, a former three-star recruit, played all four years for the Fighting Irish, first really seeing the field on a consistent basis during his Sophomore year. The interceptions aren’t the strength of his game, finishing his career with just two, but he forced three fumbles this year which is a nice plus to his report. Over three seasons in a starting role, he would finish with 87 tackles and 15 passes defended.

What stands out about Cam Hart straight away is the size (6’3, 200 lbs). He’s a knuckle dragger who can use that length to be a disruptive force in coverage. Can cover ground well, running 4.50 a 40-yard time. He’s got a good backpedal, keeping his pad level low. In that backpedal, when he has to flip around his hips swivel well to smoothly transition. Doesn’t have a ton of tackles to show for, but he is a willing tackler who uses good form to wrap up the runner.

The lack of interceptions might scare some NFL teams off. Not sure. If you can shut down a Wide Receiver, he’s not getting thrown at. If you’re not getting thrown at, less chances for interceptions. Hart shows hesitancy at times, undecided on what to do next when a play breaks down. Not sure if that is just a confidence issue or what the deal is. Has the speed you want, but the tape does have quite a few deep passes completed on him.

I think if Cam Hart had more production in college, he would have a higher draft stock. As it stands, he gets a third-round grade from me. Not sure if he could play Slot Corner or not but I like his upside as an outside Corner in press coverage. There are some things to work on, but I like the upside and I’m confident he can iron out some of those issues in training camp.
