Eagles trade Haason Reddick to Jets
The Philadelphia Eagles have traded EDGE rusher Haason Reddick to the New York Jets for a conditional 2026 third-round pick, ESPN NFL insider Adam Schefter first reported Friday. The deal can become a second-round pick if he plays 67.5 percent of his snaps with 10 or more sacks next season.
Reddick has reached that contractual threshold in each of the last four seasons, including tallying 16 and 11 sacks, respectively, in his two seasons with Philadelphia; in five of his seven seasons, he has played at least 74 of the team’s defensive snaps.
Reddick had 38 combined tackles with 13 tackles-for-loss, 23 quarterback hits and one pass deflection last season. In 2022, he was a second-team All-Pro and finished fourth in defensive player of the year voting, logging 49 combined tackles, 11 tackles-for-loss, 26 quarterback hits, three pass breakups and an NFL-most five forced fumbles.
He is in the final year of a three-year, $45 million deal with a $14.25 million base salary and a $21.83 million cap hit in 2024, per Spotrac. According to NFL Network insider Mike Garafolo, the Jets will take on $14.5 million of his deal while Philadelphia will be on the hook for $1 million because of his roster bonus earlier this month.
Reddick adds to the flurry of Jets acquisitions this offseason, which features Tyron Smith, Mike Williams, Javon Kinlaw and John Simpson, among others. It will be interesting to see how he’s able to take advantage of being alongside Quinnen Williams, Jermaine Johnson, Kinlaw and 2023 first-round pick Will McDonald.
