Has Brendan Rodgers bubble burst at Leicester?

Has the Brendan Rodgers bubble burst at Leicester? The former Premier League Champions have yet to win since the season restarted, including draws with relegation strugglers Watford and Brighton and are in danger of losing a top-three finish to Chelsea, Manchester United or Wolves who are slowly creeping upon them.

Rodgers joined The Foxes after a successful spell in Scotland as manager of Celtic and was even linked with the Arsenal job when they parted ways with Unai Emery at the end of last year, such was the form of his Leicester side. That job ultimately went to Mikel Arteta and Rodgers stayed put.

However, since the turn of the year the wheels have slowly become unstable and now are in real danger of falling off the bus completely. This has coincided with striker Jamie Vardy’s goal drought as he has scored only twice since the beginning of the year. The former England international has scored 99 Premier League goals, but according to Rodgers a lack of chances has hindered his main threat.

“I think when he gets the opportunities he will take them and I think over the course of these games he hasn’t had many.” Rodgers said about Vardy

But it goes back further than the restart. In their last eight Premier League games, stretching back to the beginning of February, they have won just once, a 4-0 thrashing of Aston Villa, and things are unlikely to get any better in the offseason as top clubs chase important players like left-back Ben Chilwell and midfielder Onyinye Wilfred Ndidi.

Manchester City are interested in Chilwell but unwilling to meet Leicester’s price tag of $75 million while Chelsea are also keeping tabs on the England International. Nigerian international Ndidi has also been linked recently with a move to Manchester United as they look to bolster ahead of next season and weaken a rival in the process.

Sick of being trash at Fantasy Premier League? These 5 low-owned players could turn your season around!

Add that to Rodgers hit and miss transfer history and this time next season Leicester, who host Crystal Palace on Saturday, could be languishing in mid-table mediocrity and looking for a new manager.
