Newly-acquired wide receiver Jerry Jeudy has agreed to a three-year extension worth up to $58 million with the Cleveland Browns, NFL Network insiders Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero were first to report Tuesday.
Jeudy, who will turn 25-years-old in April, was acquired from the Denver Broncos earlier this month in exchange for a 5th-round pick and a 6th-round pick.
The deal will be for $41 million guaranteed at signing, though we also don’t know how it will be incentivized up to $58 million. His $41 million guaranteed will be the 14th-most for any wideout in the NFL, according to Spotrac, sandwiched in-between Chicago’s D.J. Moore ($41.6 million gtd.) and Tampa Bay’s Chris Godwin ($40M gtd).
The extension won’t kick in until 2025 and last through 2027, his age-28 season; his cap hit for the 2024 season will remain at $13 million, per Spotrac.
The former first-round pick recorded 54 receptions for 758 yards and two touchdowns last season with Denver. His best season came in 2022, racking up 67 catches, 972 yards and six touchdowns–all career highs. Jeudy will be surrounded by more skill position weapons, but in a run-centric offense (if Joe Flacco‘s not behind center) alongside Amari Cooper and Elijah Moore.
It remains to be seen if Deshaun Watson is a clear upgrade over Russell Wilson, and if Jeudy’s game will be enhanced in Cleveland’s offense. Do you think Jeudy will be better in Cleveland than in Denver? Let us know in the comments below!
