Does Chad Reuter Understand Arm Length?

I just did a post about how the NFL Network coverage of the NFL Scouting Combine sucks. Now I want to talk about the website coverage of the event because it’s absolutely brutal. Maybe even worse than the broadcast. Can we just have a quick chat about Chad Reuter because he’s another lying scumbag that has no idea what he’s talking about.

I’m not just picking on people to pick on people. I’m just embarrassed by the coverage that gets released on NFL.com. This is supposed to be the leader for draft content. It’s literally NFL.com. It couldn’t be more trash.

I want you to read this article. After you’re done, I want you to do me this one favor. Ask yourself this question and send me a comment back. Would you still read Reuter’s articles if it wasn’t on NFL.com. Let’s say it was on a smaller media network instead. Would you still read it? We all know the answer to that question.

It’s really bad content and half of it doesn’t even make sense. I don’t want to be here all day but there are some egregious errors that we just have to talk about.

Mostly Reuter’s contradictory obsession with arm length. In the defensive line group, Reuter lists four players as losers from the Combine. Four of which he makes it a point of emphasis to say it’s because of their arm length.

Tommy Eichenberg: “He chose not to run the 40 at the combine, though, and his length (31 5/8-inch arm, 77 1/8-inch wingspan) and jumps (32 1/2-inch vertical, 9-foot-8 broad) were average for the position.”

NFL.com

Jer’Zahn Newton: “However, it’s his average length that might be more of an issue for some teams (32 3/8-inch arm, 75 7/8-inch wingspan).”

NFL.com

Bralen Trice: “His average length (32 1/2-inch arm, 77 5/8-inch wingspan) might be a concern for some teams and his 40-yard dash time of 4.72 seconds was not exceptional for a player of his size.”

NFL.com

But wait… It gets better.

Reuter lists Braden Fiske as one of his big winners. His reasoning? He had a good vertical jump so teams should ignore his short arms.

Braden Fiske: “Fiske also fared well in the jumps (33 1/2-inch vertical, 9-foot-9 broad jump), though he was a bit lighter than teams might like as an interior lineman (292 pounds) and possesses shorter arms (31 inches).”

NFL.com

So Johnny Newton gets a stock down because he had arms bigger than Fiske but couldn’t work out because of a Jones fracture near his pinky toe? Reuter seems to care very much about arm length but fails to mention that Fiske had the lowest arm length of any defensive lineman at the event.

He also lists Olu Fashanu and Sedrick Van Pran as his losers. Fashanu for having small hands and Van Pran for having small arms. Yet Fiske is a winner for having abnormally small arms.

Does this make any sense to you? I feel like I have a brain aneurysm trying to decipher his content.

I mean his whole thing is littered with lies and nonsense. I can keep going if you want.

Check out what he said about Tennessee running back Jaylen Wright.

Jaylen Wright: “His drill work was strong, as well. I viewed Wright as a likely Day 2 pick coming into the combine, and he could be creeping up toward the top 50 after his showing in Indy.”

NFL.com

Now, maybe you didn’t watch the entire combine so you’re not able to spot the obvious error. Wright did not participate in any of the pass-catching drills, which made up about 85% of the entire running back workout. Something I mentioned in my notes at the time. Wright underwent surgery on a thumb injury after the season. I just want to know how someone can have strong drill work by sitting out a vast majority of the workout. Can someone explain that to me?

It’s a lie because it’s the same script over and over from these losers. They feel that they have to stick to a narrative (like the one stating that he’s a Day 2 pick when only a crackhead picks that guy in the second or third round) so they make things up to strengthen it. In reality, it’s a lie and all nonsense.

Chad Reuter is a clown and the fact that this is all that NFL.com puts out relating to the Combine is a JOKE.
