The “Who The Fuck Is That Guy” series continues here on the website. The best part of the Vendetta Sports Fantasy Show. Everyone gives a player that almost nobody has heard about (Hence the name, Who The Fuck Is That Guy) and someone nobody will ever draft. Yet they can somehow, someway win you your fantasy football league. Today’s edition features Tampa Bay Buccaneers wide receiver, Scotty Miller.
Background Information
Scotty Miller is a 22 year old wide receiver from Bowling Green, he was drafted by the Buccaneers in the 6th round with the 208th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft. While Miller’s 2019 stats are nothing to write home about, 13 catches for 200 yards 1 Touchdown it’s how he got those numbers.
Flashes of Fantasy Excellence
Miller has shown 2 games of good fantasy production, the first being week 11 against the New Orleans Saints and the other being week 15 (Fantasy Playoffs) In week 11 Miller had 4 catches for 71 yards which totals to 11.1 fantasy points in PPR and 7.1 in standard leagues. In week 15 Miller had 3 catches for 49 yards and a touchdown. That totals to 13.9 fantasy points in PPR and 10.9 fantasy points in standard leagues. The flashes are there, which sometimes is all you need to win your league.
Brady Adds Value
With Tom Brady coming to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers Miller’s value increases. Tom Brady MADE Julian Edelman who he is, also look at Wes Welker.
Wes Welker dropped off in yards, catches and touchdowns when comparing his final 2 years in New England with Tom Brady to the rest of his career. He also had Peyton freaking Manning when he broke the single season passing yards and touchdown records, so you cannot say he had a crappy quarterback. This proves how much Brady both values and depends on his slot wide receivers.
Translation to Buccaneers
In this coming year Brady will NEED Scotty Miller. Brady can’t extend plays, he can’t buy his own time to throw the ball down field to Mike Evans and Chris Godwin. Making the short and intermediate routes that Scotty Miller will be running will become Brady’s bread and butter. It should also be noted Miller is a SPEEDSTER. He ran a 4.30 40-yard dash at his pro day according to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers website.
His career stats at Bowling Green add up to 2,867 yards on 215 receptions with 25 touchdowns. Known for his speed, Miller clocked what General Manager Jason Licht said was a 4.30 40-yard dash at his pro day.
Path to Playing Time
Scotty Miller’s path to playing time is pretty straight forward, he’s their 3rd starting wide receiver (according to ESPN) and as a result will be playing in the slot. He simply has to keep his job, and the fantasy production will follow. Miller has done it before, and he has an amazing chance to repeat and win you your fantasy league.
