NCAA Football 25: Who Could Land On The Cover?

I honestly can’t believe we are getting a new NCAA Football game. I played the hell out of NCAA 14 on the XBOX 360, downloading updated rosters to try and keep up. When it was announced EA Sports would be launching NCAA Football 25, I immediately had thoughts: will we get the same features as before? Can we customize our own stadium? Will the playable modes be the same? But lastly, who would land on the cover? Let’s talk about it.

There are a couple of trains of thought that EA Sports could use when deciding the cover athlete for NCAA Football 25. Do they go with an all-time player from the period between games? Do they go with the easy option in the best player from a year ago Caleb Williams? Maybe one of the upcoming studs in college football? Realistically, I believe any of the three could be the case. But, for argument’s sake, I think it boils down to five options.

Caleb Williams

As mentioned above, Caleb Williams on the cover of NCAA Football 25 makes sense. He was the best Quarterback last season, the likely first overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft, and has an image that is immediately recognized among the college football community. All of the players I will name would likely be a 99 overall, making any of them incredibly fun to play with on their respective teams.

Trevor Lawrence

Trevor Lawrence could see himself on the front of NCAA Football 25 based on the fact that, at the time, he was regarded as one of, if not, the best Quarterback prospect ever, or at least since Andrew Luck. Lawrence also won a National Championship while at Clemson, and the shot of him holding the trophy would make for a cold cover photo for the game.

Joe Burrow

Joe Burrow has a great case to be on the cover of NCAA Football 25, as he captained one of the greatest teams in College Football history, leading them to a National Championship in 2019. The iconic image of him after the game smoking a cigar, unlikely to actually make the cover, would be the greatest cover photo in gaming history. Regardless, Burrow in his LSU jersey would make an excellent option.

Shedeur Sanders

Looking toward the future, there may not be a more polarizing, high-profile player in college football than Colorado’s Shedeur Sanders. Sanders helped bring the Buffaloes back onto the national map and will look to establish himself as the top pick in the 2025 NFL Draft. Sanders on the cover of NCAA Football 25 makes a ton of sense.

Travis Hunter

Staying in Colorado, another potential candidate is his teammate Travis Hunter. Hunter is a two-way star and was a walking highlight last season. Hunter, when healthy, is one of the most dangerous players in the country, and would be a blast to play with both at receiver and at cornerback. Hunter is will known and would likely create a nasty cover photo.

Quinn Ewers

Last on the list of potential NCAA Football 25 cover athletes is Texas QB Quinn Ewers. The Texas Longhorns as such a massive national brand, and with a dynamic, young playmaker at Quarterback it would surely be a hit. Ewers led Texas to a College Football Playoff birth last season, and will look to take his team further in 2025.
