Could The Nick Saban Replacement Be Bill Belichick?
The greatest College Football coach of all time has retired: Nick Saban dropped the bombshell on fans today, announcing he is retiring.
The legacy that Saban leaves at Alabama will be almost impossible to duplicate, the shoes far too big to fill. However, what if I told you there is a copy-and-paste replacement for Saban, and that is Bill Belichick?
Belichick has been on the hot seat for the better part of two seasons now, as the New England Patriots have been terrible recently. Rumors are swirling that he could be out as the Patriots coach this off-season, and instead of finding a new head coaching job, what if Alabama came and threw him the bag? Belichick on the sidelines at Alabama would be a sight to behold, and if there was ever a team to lure him to the college game, it was Alabama. But I have a concern.
We know that Bill Belichick is not very personable and friendly when it comes to the media. But if you watch him on College GameDay or on documentaries, he is actually quite funny and warm. I just wonder what Belichick would be like going to high schoolers’ homes and recruiting guys to play for him. My concern is how he would perform on the recruiting trail if he can get the guys that Nick Saban could. It’s still Alabama, after all, but part of it is on the coach to make a good impression as well.
The debate for Bill Belichick this off-season is likely between going to any number of NFL teams, but I wouldn’t be shocked if I get the push notification one day in the coming weeks that he has signed at Alabama. I don’t think it is as far-fetched as some might think.
