Draymond Green doesn’t regret choking out Rudy Gobert
After being suspended for five games for choking Minnesota Timberwolves center Rudy Gobert in their most recent altercation, Draymond Green has no regrets putting the three-time Defensive Player of the Year in a chokehold.
Just under two minutes into the most recent Warriors-Timberwolves matchup, Warriors shooting guard Klay Thompson grabbed a hold of Timberwolves defensive anchor Jaden McDaniels. The two tussled past mid-court, and it quickly escalated. Rudy Gobert then grabbed Thompson, trying to hold him back from McDaniels to stop the fight.
Then Green, who has a history with Gobert, quickly stepped in and did his part. Green would choke Gobert, which would ultimately cause his suspension.
“I don’t live my life with regrets,” Green said recently. “I’ll come to a teammate’s defense any time that I’m in a position to come to a teammate’s defense. … What matters to me is how the people that I care about feel, first and foremost. How are the people that I care about affected? How are the people I care about, what do they have to deal with? That’s it for me.”
There clearly has been no love lost between these two. Green has had his hands full with Gobert for almost his entire career. The four-time NBA champion Green became advent on bullying Gobert in their 2018 DPOY race, including multiple Twitter replies and shots taken back and forth.
It didn’t stop there, however. In 2019, Gobert famously cried over missing an All-Star media after saying he was snubbed out of an appearance. Draymond then would reply once more on Twitter (now X) saying “I guess I should cry too… no Charlotte?”
