Mike McDaniel hates fantasy football questions
Miami Dolphins head coach Mike McDaniel jokingly responded to Cameron Wolfe last week when asked about rookie running back De’Von Achane, who was coming off injury reserve and was hoping to add an additional boost to their already-explosive offense.
“We have been pragmatic. Monday he was un-tackleable. We feel good about where he’s headed and if he’s ready to roll for this game, he’ll play,” McDaniel said. “If he’s not, we have plenty of very capable players playing on the field and we’ll wait another week and see if he can play then.”
Achane appeared for just three snaps, tallying two touches for five yards before exiting with a minor knee injury. He exited in the first half and did not return.
Achane has been dominant in fantasy football when healthy, averaging 19.6 half-PPR fantasy points per game and averaging 20.6 full-PPR per game. The rookie running back was electric before missing five weeks on Injury Reserve with a knee injury earlier this season, totaling 455 rushing yards, five touchdowns and two receiving touchdowns.
Fantasy managers can’t wait to get the explosive rookie back into their lineups when he is healthy. Achane could end up being a league winner when healthy with his explosive plays and quick burst out of line.
With fantasy football playoffs around the corner, Achane could be a buy-low target with his injury history and managers that are in win-now territory … if your league still permits trades at this point of the season.
Mike McDaniel is going to take a cautious approach with Achane, as the team is nearing the playoffs with seven weeks left in the season, and it will need all its guys healthy to make a Super Bowl push.
