Mark Andrews Suffers Season-Ending Ankle Injury

During last night’s game against the Cincinnati Bengals, Baltimore Ravens tight end Mark Andrews suffered a high ankle injury, forcing him to end his 2023-24 season, Ian Rapoport first reported the news Friday.

After a hip-drop tackle from Bengals defender Logan Wilson, Andrews fell to the ground in agony. The former Oklahoma tight end instantly called for medical treatment from the sideline. He would be able to walk to the sideline on his own power with help from Baltimore’s training staff. According to Rapoport, Andrews suffered a cracked fibula and an ankle ligament injury.

After Andrews suffered his injury, multiple Ravens’ teammates were rushed with concern and empathy for their veteran teammate.

Fellow Baltimore Ravens tight end Isaiah Likely had this to say regarding Andrews’ season-ending injury.

“One thing I know about Mark is he can tolerate pain,” Likely said. “So when he was down and not getting up, I took a knee and stayed next to him the whole time. They had to basically pull me away. I was telling him, ‘Get up, Mark. C’mon Mark, show me you can get up.’ Him not getting up, it really started to hurt. Our leader was on the floor.”

This season, the 6-foot-5 Andrews has been his usual self. Recording 45 catches for over 500 receiving yards and six touchdowns in 10 games on the year. Andrews has recorded over 500 receiving yards in every year he’s played in the NFL–a stat that dates back to his junior year of college at Oklahoma.

“I was hoping he was going to get up, I know how he [does], but when he went down, he was just laying there with that confused look on his face,” Ravens quarterback Lamar Jackson said. “I was like, ‘That’s my boy.’ I don’t want to see that happen to anybody, not just him. That’s my boy.”

Baltimore continues to impress this season. After a win over the Bengals last night–even with Andrews out most of the game, they move to 8-3 on the season and first in the AFC North. They will travel to Los Angeles to face the Chargers in Week 12.
