Dusty Baker Has A Lame Excuse Explaining Why He Retired
It sure seems like we have seen the last of Dusty Baker. Shortly after the Houston Astros were eliminated from the 2023 MLB postseason, Baker essentially announced his retirement. Since then, Baker spoke out about why he retired apart from the fact that he’s old. The excuse he made for hanging it up is SOOOOOO lame.

“We had a lot of success here, Ernie and Charles, and then the last couple of months here weren’t very pleasant, because we weren’t 10 games ahead,” said Baker on the podcast.
“Every year’s different,” Baker said on the show. “There was a whole bunch of criticism from 30-year-olds and bloggers and tweeters that I’m not doing this and I don’t know that and I told my wife, ‘You know, I’m kind of tired of this and tired of the scrutiny and if I could go manage and show up at say 6:30 for a 7 o’clock game and leave 30 minutes after the game, don’t do the (pregame and postgame interviews), I could manage for another four or five years.’ You know what I mean?
“After a while, you just get tired of answering questions.”

Can we just take a quick timeout and acknowledge what Dusty said here? Great, let’s have a quick chat because the only way to describe what Dusty said can only be chalked up as embarrassing.
A: Never let the haters win. Especially the social media haters who have no clue. That’s rule number one. By quitting all you did was give the haters the victory card. I deal with hateful comments every single day. I don’t let any of them affect my day. They’re just jealous that I get to sit at home and type while working for myself. Any other attitude when dealing with social media trolls is the wrong one.
B: You quit because of bloggers and tweeters? Welcome to modern society. News flash buddy! Baseball is dying. Instead of trashing these people, you should be thanking them for promoting your sport. If they don’t, imagine what happens to baseball next…
C: You quit because you can’t answer questions? C’mon bruh. He even says he was having fun when they had a ten game lead but not fun when they’re losing. Oh, so you’re only interested in being a front runner?
D: Dusty acting like he hates the media. The truth is he wants to be part of the media, but he won’t tell you that. Here is Dusty having a conversation with Bob Kendrick. This idea that Dusty wants to get away from the limelight is comical.
