The Dallas Cowboys were thrilled when CeeDee Lamb was still on the board with the 17th overall pick in the 2020 NFL Draft. Lamb enters a situation where the rich get richer. There may not be a better trio in the league than Lamb, Amari Cooper, and Michael Gallup. The Oklahoma product wants to live up to his first round status. Lamb’s goal is to become a Hall of Famer.

Be a Hall of Famer,” Lamb said when asked by Clarence Hill of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram about his career goals. “Have as much of an impact or more that Michael [Irvin] had on the game and on America’s Team. I want to be on a team that makes unbelievable memories together. I feel like that is what we are going to do here.

Lamb also taked about that number 88. He was originally going to wear number 10 but Jerry Jones convinced him to go with 88. It’s a number with significance in Dallas. Drew Pearson, Irvin and Dez Bryant have all sported 88 in Dallas.

“That is a legendary number for the legendary America’s Team,” Lamb said. “For me to go out there and represent the great legends that have worn that number is a huge presentable moment. I can’t wait to live it out for the first time. I want to continue the legacy of 88. The 88 club is something big in Dallas. I want to live up to it.”

CeeDee Lamb was one of the bigger steals of the draft. He’s determined to live up to expectations and make the 16 teams that passed on him sorely regret the decision. Lamb should have some chips on his shoulder. Both Henry Ruggs III and Jerry Jeudy were selected ahead of him.
