Hulk Hogan recently tied the knot for the third time, but sadly his daughter Brooke Hogan didn’t attend the wedding.
The Hulkster is considered one of the most legendary names in pro wrestling and a pioneer of the sport in the 80s. However, his personal life didn’t enjoy as much success, as his career, and real-life controversies have seemingly cost Hulk Hogan his family.
The 12-time WWE Champion recently married professional yoga instructor Sky Daily in an intimate Florida ceremony. While his son, Nick Hogan, attended the ceremony Brooke Hogan was suspiciously absent. After the story made the rounds, Brooke took to Instagram to explain why she missed Hulk Hogan’s wedding.
“As many of you know, I value my privacy, but unfortunately, a lot of media outlets are making assumptions as to why I did not attend my father’s third wedding,” she wrote. “Instead of leaving it to speculation, I decided it’s better to shut it all down here. As we all experience this with our own families, the dynamics of a family unit continuously change over the years.
“With that being said, my family has experienced a LOT of change. With all of it happening in the public eye, I’ve had to learn how to best navigate those changes as they come, which has been difficult to say the least. For my own journey to healing and happiness, I have chosen to create some distance between myself and my family, and am focusing on people and things that heal my heart and align with my own personal beliefs, goals, and values. I wish him well.”
While Brooke wasn’t specific about what caused the rift between her and her father, Hogan’s controversies over the years have been well documented. Recently, Hulk Hogan opened up about a very recent opioid addiction that he’s since combated, but could this have played a factor in Brooke’s decision?
Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson comes from a wrestling family, but other than his well-known Samoan roots, few fans still remember his father, Rocky Johnson. Rocky is considered a wrestling veteran, and according to Hulk Hogan, he cultivated a close relationship with Johnson. Additionally, he claimed the WWE Hall of Famer took him under his wing during an interview with Sports Illustrated.
“This was back when I was in a rock and roll band. There was one time where I offered to drive Rocky Johnson to Tallahassee for his match,” he said. “I drove him in my girlfriend’s brand-new Ford Torino, and I was so proud to drive him. When I went to New York in ’79 [to work for the World Wrestling Federation], he took me under his wing when he wrestled there. I never forgot that.”
The Hulkster has been called out about his statements over the years and accused of lying or embellishing the truth. Despite this, his history with Rocky Johnson has yet to be debunked. When the legend passed away in 2020, Hogan publically mourned him alongside the wrestling world.
