Pillow Fighting Championship CEO upset with Dana White, UFC amid trademark dispute

The UFC has had a lot of enemies since its creation in 1993. Pillow Fighting Championship (PFC) and its CEO Steve Williams are the most recent to join that list.

The beef between the two organizations stems from a trademark dispute. According to The New York Post, the UFC objected to the PFC’s trademark application because the logo’s red color could lead to confusion with the UFC’s logo.

Williams has opted to change the color of the PFC logo to avoid a battle with the UFC. In that sense, the UFC was victorious in this beef. Nonetheless, Williams had some choice words for the organization and its president Dana White.

Williams provided The New York Post with comments on the trademark dispute with the UFC.

“It’s ridiculous. Out of the 100 million comments nobody ever said anything about being confused,” Williams said.

Williams was also bullish on the idea of having a pillow fight against White.

“Yes I’d definitely like to get Dana in the ring,” he said. “He’s a decade younger and spent his entire life around MMA fighters but I’m 100% sure that I’d stomp his skinny a** in the first round.”

I will say, I do not think I have ever heard speak so aggressively about beating someone up with a pillow. It is a fair bit of irony considering pillow fighting has to be one of the least violent sports out there. Although, Williams may be playing chest in an attempt to lure White into a pillow fight to help promote his sport. I doubt White bites, however.

Regardless, Williams is optimistic that the UFC and PFC can coexist in the combat sports landscape.

“PFC is a great gateway sport for children and is also a great on and off-ramp for past, present and future UFC Champions, so we can coexist perfectly,” he said.

The PFC has actually had a couple of UFC fighters take part in a pillow fight. UFC women’s strawweight Istela Nunes was the promotion’s first female champion and former featherweight Marcus Brimage fought in the organization. Still, I doubt we see the day when the UFC champions have a background in pillow fighting.
