Dianna Russini Leaves ESPN For The Athletic

Another high-profile analyst is leaving ESPN. This time, ESPN didn’t actually fire this person. Dianna Russini is leaving ESPN for The Athletic. What’s even funnier is the fact that ESPN offered her a raise and she still walked for the opportunity at the Titanic, The Athletic. Well, I guess both places are kinda tanking soooo.

The New York Post was the first to report the news:

“Dianna Russini is leaving ESPN for The Athletic to be its top NFL insider, The Post has learned.”

“Russini had been with ESPN for eight years as one of its main NFL reporters, appearing on all of its major NFL shows.”

“ESPN offered a raise to stay, according to sources, but Russini chose to go to The Athletic.”

“She is expected to start soon at The Athletic, where she will write NFL stories, appear on its video platforms and work with podcasts.”

Sorry, not sorry, but this is so dumb. Why would you want to leave ESPN so that all of your work goes behind a paywall? ESPN has certain content behind a paywall too, but all of the news stories that Russini reports on are free to read. To pass on a raise so that all of your work gets hidden is lunacy.

I also have to mention this fact too. I’ll give you a peak behind the curtain here at Vendetta. We don’t use Russini’s reporting anymore because she stinks at her job. She’s been caught multiple times reporting fake news so we can’t trust her reports anymore until Adam Schefter confirms what she’s saying. Except now we can’t even do that because Schefter probably won’t do that anymore now that she left ESPN.

It literally just happened a few days ago when she said the Saints were signing Kareem Hunt, which didn’t happen. Poor Isiah wrote a blog about a fake story because Russini botched it. It happened to me too when I worked for someone else. She totally lied about Doug Marrone, once upon a time.

It’s just the truth. Russini is a really bad reporter that doesn’t break any stories. The ones she does break, it’s a lie two thirds of the time. This should be viewed as a total blessing in disguise for ESPN. Whatever The Athletic is paying her, it’s too much.

Speaking of blowing money, The Athletic has still failed to turn a profit. I’m not sure how this helps in their efforts to do so. I’m not sure what she brings to the table.

Feel free to comment. Does the addition of Russini make it more likely for you to purchase a subscription to The Athletic? Again, I’ll just quickly mention that you get content at Vendetta for free. A place that tells you the truth. Why would you support a disgusting organization that treats its employees like garbage?
