Josh Allen Couldn’t Care Less About The Madden Curse
Josh Allen isn’t at all concerned with the curse around players who grace a Madden cover. About a month ago, he was asked about the curse on the Bussin With The Boys podcast. “That’s done and over with! Pat and Tom broke that two years ago,” Allen said.
On Thursday, Allen was asked again about the curse on the Pardon My Take podcast, saying he’s “not worried at all.”

If you don’t know what the Madden curse is allow me to explain.
The curse suggests that featuring a player on the cover can lead to negative consequences for that player’s performance in the following season. The curse garnered attention because players often experienced a significant decline in performance or suffered injuries after appearing on the game’s cover.
Madden Curse Examples
Madden 2000: Barry Sanders appeared on the game’s cover in Madden 2000. Sanders would go on to unexpectedly retire during training camp.
Madden 04: Michael Vick was one of the greatest players in the game ever, and the closest thing to a cheat code. Unfortunately, Vick shattered his leg during the preseason that year and missed 11 games.
Madden 19: When awarded the Madden cover, Antonio Brown was undeniably the best wide receiver in football. The curse didn’t impact his on-field stats, but it appeared to affect his mental state as it declined. Following the season, the Steelers traded Brown due to his disruptive behavior. Unfortunately, things took a turn for the worse afterward. During his time with the Raiders, he never played a regular-season game as he suffered frostbite. Later, the Patriots signed him, but they released him after he played in just one game due to sexual assault allegations, resulting in a short-lived tenure.
“I grew up with it. That’s how I learned the rules,” Allen said on Pardon My Take. “I knew all of the rules and basic offensive concepts, so when I played peewee and junior varsity, I was so ahead of the curve because I knew what was supposed to happen.”
