David Robertson Is Pissed The Mets Might Trade Him

Dom at the site has been doing a series talking about potential players that might get moved. Here is his piece on David Robertson.

If you ask Robertson how he feels about a potential trade, it’s pretty safe to say he’s not happy about it. Everybody other than myself thought the Mets would be good this year (I have proof). Robertson clearly thoughts the Mets would be a contender and is pissed about the chance that he may have to move again.

“I like it here,” Robertson told Tim Healey of Newsday. “I’m not excited about it. It’s just what happens.”

“I was expecting us to be in a better position than where we’re at,” Robertson told Newsday. “Our season has not turned out the way we wanted it to. This team now is at a point where they’re probably thinking, if we don’t turn it around in the next few days, they’re going to try to make moves to pick up the pieces.”

“If it happens, it happens. I’ll pack up everything and figure out where to go and figure out which hotel we’re going to live in and all that crap. Cars getting shipped. It’s just a mess. It’s a mess for a family.”

Robertson, 38, currently sports a 2.08 ERA and 1.02 WHIP through 39 appearances this season. He’s also tallied 14 saves throughout the season too. That’s a damn good bullpen piece that any contending team should be interested in. You can’t put a price tag on reliable late inning outs during the postseason.

The Mets currently sit 46-53 and 18.5 games out of first in the NL East. New York sits seven games out of a wildcard spot while trailing four other teams in front of them that remain out of the playoff picture. It’s time to sell. It’s a matter of if Steve Cohen is smart enough to do it.
